Photosynthetic Organisms Using Respiration
Photosynthetic organisms are able to use photosynthesis along with respiration. Here is the equation for photosynthesis 6CO2 + 6H2O => C6H12O6 + 6O2. Now this is the equation for respiration C6H12O6 + 6O2 => 6CO2 + 6H2O (36 ATP). See some similarities? The organism uses photosynthesis to make glucose(C6H12O6) and oxygen gas(O2). Those products are then used in respiration as reactants to make carbon dioxide(CO2) and water(H2O). Now those products are used in photosynthesis as reactants then the cycle restarts.
